The Laser Institute of Qufu Normal University (LIQNU) was established in 1976, which is the original only specified research and manufacturing base to produce polarizing optical elements assigned by State Scientific and Technological Commission. LIQNU is not only the Shandong Province Key Laboratory of Laser Polarization and Information Technology, but also the Province Engineering Research Center of Laser Polarization Technology. Meanwhile, LIQNU is also one of the support units of first-level disciplines for physics doctorate degree granting and postdoctoral research station. At present, LIQNU has a staff of 20, including 11 scientific researchers, and 8 of them are with PhD degrees.

LIQNU holds 4 stable research regions including “Polarization Optics and Polarizing Elements”, “Quantum Optics and Quantum Information”, “Photoelectric Materials for Informatics and Energy” and “Laser Technique and Laser Spectroscopy”. Each research region corresponds to one mature research team, and amounts of papers with high quality are published regularly in academic journals such as Nature Communications, Physical Review A, Optics Express and so on.

LIQNU insists combination of fundamental research and applied research, and the brightest characteristic of LIQNU is studying, developing and producing the polarizing optical elements. LIQNU undertakes a series of national programs such as National Key Technologies Research and Development Program of China, the National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (863 Program). So far, LIQNU has exploited 35 series and more than 700 specifications of polarizing optical elements, among which 30 elements fill in the research gaps in China and 18 elements are original in the world.

It should be stated that for production of polarizing optical elements, LIQNU holds a dozen experienced technical developers and all kinds of processing workshops of optics and machinery. The high market shares and good quality of our products are guaranteed by the superior experimental conditions, advanced optics processing equipment, exquisite technology and strict quality control.
