The College of Engineering was established in 2000. The college has bachelor, master, and Ph.D. programs with over 2787 students currently enrolled. The undergraduate major includes Automation, Electrical Engineering and Automation, Measuring and Controlling Technologies and Instruments, Printing Engineering and Packaging Engineering. Among them, Automation specialty is Shandong province brand characteristic specialty. The master's degree includes control science and engineering, management science and engineering and electrical engineering. The doctoral degrees includes control science and engineering and operations research and cybernetics. Operational Research and Cybernetics is a key subject in Shandong Province, and Intelligent Control Technology Laboratory is a provincial intensive construction key laboratory. The College is a standing Committee member of China Packaging Education Commission and a member of the Printing Teaching steering Committee of the Ministry of Education. There is a national printing standardization education and training base.

At this time, the college employs 80 full-time faculty members. The faculty includes 11 professors, 26 associate professors; 4 doctoral supervisor, 34 master’s supervisor; 4 Taishan scholars and 2 new century talents from the Ministry of Education. There are 1 chief expert in key subjects in the province,1 winner in Shandong outstanding youth fund, 3 special allowance under the State Council, 3 Young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions, 1 model teacher in the country, and 1 excellent scientific research and innovation team at the provincial level. The global ESI of engineering discipline ranks in the top 1%  and is selected as the first class discipline in Shandong Province. The total value of the experimental equipment is over 40 million RMB, the laboratory area is more than 4500m2, the experimental equipment is advanced and the experimental conditions are good. In recent years, the employment rate of graduates has reached 95%, and about 30% of graduates have been admitted to graduate students of key universities. In the past three years, the students of college have won more than 20 national awards and 300 provincial awards.

  Packaging Engineering is the undergraduate course that belongs to the first-level Light industry in branch Engineering. (subject code: 081702). Enrolment is student of science and technology. The standard length of schooling is four years, and the flexible one is 3-6 years. The bachelor's degree will be awarded.

• Development History

  The major of Packaging Engineering was set up under the original Printing Institute in 2007 and incorporated into the present Engineering College in 2014. Qufu Normal University is one of four universities those establish the major of packaging engineering in Shandong province. The enrollment scale is 100-150 students per year. So far, approximate 1500 students had totally enrolled.

  The research on packaging decoration and structural design, transportation packaging design and food packaging belongs the domestic advanced level. Special achievements in the aspect of packaging structure design and transportation packaging design had obtained. We adhere the teaching motto of "learning to use" and instructed students to participate in various packaging design competitions. In this way we promote teaching effect in practice and obtain various prizes such as awards of the world packaging design star, national packaging design competition, Shandong university student science and technology innovation competition, Jifeng packaging design competition, Jingdong logistics design competition and so on.

  Graduates of Packaging Engineering have broad prospects for employment and development. The employment direction includes the departments of commodity production and circulation, packaging enterprises, scientific research institutions, foreign trade, commodity inspection and other departments. It has a Shandong Province key laboratory of "Intelligent Control Technology Laboratory". This specialty was founded in 2006，and has distinguished education and scientific faculty. Currently there are 11 full-time teachers, of whom 2 are professors, 5 are associate professors and 8 have doctor degrees. The graduates of this major have a good career prospects and a wide career employment, and the employment rate of this major is always on the top of the discipline employment rate list in our school. Electrical Engineering and Automation major

The Electrical Engineering and Automation major is aimed to develop the comprehensive senior engineering technical personnel with all-round development of morality, intelligence physique and aesthetic which specialize in the engineering design, system analysis, system operation, and system management in the fields of electrical engineering, automation, and information technology. This major belongs to the engineering discipline which is listed on the First-class Disciplines released by Shandong Education Department, and has a program for master's degree in electrical engineering which is one of the only five master's degree programs in the provincial universities. This major was founded in 2002，and has distinguished education and scientific faculty. Currently there are 18 full-time teachers, of whom 3 are professors, 7 are associate professors and 15 have doctor degrees. It has a Shandong Province key laboratory of "Intelligent Control Technology Laboratory", and an electrical engineering innovation and practice center of Rizhao city. According to the social needs and discipline development, this major has two undergraduate professional directions: power system and automation and electrical control technology. The graduates of this major have a good career prospects and a wide career employment, and the employment rate of this major is always on the top of the discipline employment rate list in our school. The master graduates could be employed not only in the state grid and traditional power industry fields, but also in the emerging industries, such as electric cars, clean energy and smart manufacturing.

Introduction of Printing Engineering

Printing Engineering, affiliated with the College of Engineering in Rizhao, had started since 1998. It was approved the bachelor degree award authority of Printing Engineering in 2002, subordinate to the first-level discipline of Light Technology and Engineering. Printing Engineering has always been consistent in cultivating talents with “Solid Foundation, Broad Scope, High Quality, Strong Ability”, aiming to develop interdisciplinary talents with the characteristics of “Three Chuang”(Innovative, Creative and Capable of Starting New Enterprises).

The main research contents of Printing Engineering are image-text information and its carrier. It mainly researches image-text information carrier, image-text information processing, quality control, cross-media electronic publishing, the theory and technology of web publishing. This major aims at cultivating highly-qualified professional talents with the ability of image-text information acquisition and processing, the knowledge of printing engineering, the knowledge of principles and process of image reproduction, the knowledge of the theory of image-text information communication, the capability of printing production, organization and management in industrial production.

Main courses of this major include Principle of Text/Image Processing and Reproduction, Digital Photography, Digital Image Processing, Principle of Printing Machines, Printing Material, Chromatology, Principle of Offset Printing, Theory and Application of Material for Information Recording, Quality Analysis and Quality Control of Printing, Cross-media Technology, Digital Printing, etc. Graduates of this major mainly work in printing industry such as prepress processing, printing, post-press, economic publishing design and production.
