School of Physical Education and Sports Science was founded in 1974. It now incorporates five undergraduate programs which are Physical Education, Sports Training, Dancology (Sports), Public Administration Management (Sports) and Leisure Sports. It has the first level Master's degree in Physical Education Science and professional Master’s Degree in Physical Education . What’s more, it has the only first -level Doctor's degree program in Physical Education Science and Post Doctoral mobile station in Physical Education Science.

The School comprises national feature speciality (Physical Education), brand specialty of Shandong province (Physical Education), feature speciality of Shandong province (Public Administration Management of  Sports) and the Provincial Teaching Team of Physical Education. It has the state competitive resources’ shared classes in teacher education field (teaching design of middle school physical education) , excellent courses of Shandong province (School Physical Education Science, Sports Management, Basketball, Football, Tennis and etc) Moreover, it has a key discipline of Shandong Province (Physical Humanistic Sociology), and key laboratories of Shandong Province (physical fitness test and regulation, exercise and health promotion).

The School has General Administration of Sport key research centers of physical social science and physical culture, Ministry of Education "national training program" training base, Ministry of Education teenager’s national special training base for campus football,  Physical Humanistic Sociology training base of Shandong Province, social sports instructors’ training base of Shandong Province and etc.

The School now has 6 teaching and research offices, 8 laboratories, 79 teaching and administrative staff, 16 professors and 39 associate professors. Among them, it has 1 Mount Tai Scholar Chair Professor, 1 National Social Sciences Fund Reviewing Panel expert, 2 outstanding teachers of Shandong Province, 1 young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions of Shandong Province, 1 university key disciplines chief expert of Shandong Province, 2 middle-aged backbone teachers and academic leaders and 5 doctoral supervisors. Moreover, it has 1852 undergraduates, 169 postgraduate students and 10 doctoral students on campus.

During the 2014-2015 university postgraduate education ranking list of the first-level disciplines, the first-level disciplines of physical education at Qufu Normal University ranked the 13rd in 119 universities and 9th in national normal universities. The Physical Humanistic Sociology speciality ranked the 4th in 78 universities and 3rd in the national normal universities. The physical education speciality ranked the 1st for seven consecutive years since the programmatic assessment of Shandong Province.

Physical Education

The Physical Education speciality is national feature speciality and brand specialty of Shandong province. The speciality has excellent curriculum resources which includes the state competitive resources’shared classes in teacher education field (middle school physical education teaching design) and excellent courses of Shandong province (School Physical Education Science, Sports Management , Basketball, Football, Tennis and etc) ; The speciality has good practice platforms which are "national training program" training base and primary school backbone teachers’ training base of Shandong province; The speciality has numerous qualified teachers which comprise a member of national college physical education committee, 2 outstanding teachers of Shandong Province, 1 young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions of Shandong Province, 1 university key disciplines chief expert of Shandong Province and 1 teaching team of Shandong Province；The speciality has a high quality of talent training, which means that physical education majors in basic skills competition of Shandong Province won the first prize repeatedly by team events and ranked the 1st for seven consecutive years since the programmatic assessment of Shandong Province. 

Sports training

The Sports training speciality supports association between strong enterprises to train student and has good practice platforms, which jointly educate students with General Administration of Sport Weightlifting ,Wrestling and Judo sports management center, National kayak team and National Rowing Team successively; The speciality has a high quality of talent training, which cultivates world champions,  national champions, coaches of the sports teams . Tang Gonghong , Olympic weightlifting champion Tang Gonghong and Zhang haitao, former head coach of the national woman's football team have studied in this major. The speciality ranked the 1st for three consecutive years since the programmatic assessment of Shandong Province.

Public Administration Management (Sports)

Public Administration Management (Sports) is the provincial feature speciality. The speciality has excellent curriculum resources which includes provincial excellent courses (Sports Management,Sports economics and etc)；The speciality establishes the order-oriented talents training mode, which has cooperative relationships with Shandong Mingde property management co. LTD and Shandong Sports Bureau management center of basketball, volleyball, football and etc; The speciality has distinctive talents cultivation orientation , which has distinct advantages in sports management, sports industry administration and management, and health management; The speciality has a high quality of talent training, which means that many students work in General Administration of Sport Research Institute of Sports Science and Sports Bureau of Shandong Province and s hold leadership positions in  famous universities and enterprises at home.

Dancology (Sports)

The speciality has numerous qualified teachers and a high quality of talent training. Students win the first prize in national sports dance and aerobics competitions repeatedly. The speciality has distinct advantages in dance and image design, organization , performance and art direction.

 Leisure Sports

The speciality has a strong foundation of research and a high quality of talent training. The speciality has distinct advantages in guidance and service for Leisure Sports, direction and management of outdoor activities, design and development of intellectual sports programs and operation and management of sports tourism products.
