Tuesday, January 3, 2017, the National Center for School Curriculum and Textbook Development of the Ministry of Education (NCCT) expressed to establish together with QFNU the Hong Kong & Macao Education Research Center, which will be a new high-level education think-tank established in QFNU with the relevant departments of the State after the Chinese Academy of Education Big Data.

QFNU requested NCCT in March 2016 to jointly establish the research center. NCCT fully affirmed its significance, and expressed the wish to collaboratively make related researches, promote educational exchanges between the Mainland and Hong Kong and Macao, and provide services for the educational advice and decision-making of the State.

NCCT believes that the research center could help establish a platform for education and research, gradually form an effective mechanism for educational research and cooperation, promote the Confucian and Mencius culture, enhance the national consciousness of the young people of Hong Kong and Macao, and promote the educational research in Hong Kong and Macao.

It is reported that the research center will be based on the campus of QFNU, focus on the major education projects commissioned by the Department of Teacher Education of MOE and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, and collaborate with various circles on extensive research activities, to improve the Mainland people’s understanding of the education and culture of Hong Kong and Macao and the national identity by the students of Hong Kong and Macao. The research center aims to exchange ideas about education.
