The key teachers’ training course of excellent traditional culture in Shandong started in our school on the morning of September 16. Liu Baojun, Director of the Teachers' Office of the Provincial Education Department, gave a talk at the opening of

the event. Feng Chong, Vice-Principal of our school, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. 100 trainees from 17 cities in Shandong Province will attend a week-long training course in our school and listen to the lectures of many famous domestic experts and scholars. The ceremony was presided over by Zhang Liangcai, director of the Development Planning and Policy Research Office of our university.

Feng Chong gave a speech at the opening ceremony extending warm welcome and sincere thanks to all the leaders and trainees. He said that our school was born of Confucius, flourished with culture and kept pace with the times. We were committed to the belief of the cultural consciousness and cultural confidence by “Carrying forward traditional Chinese culture” in the past 63 years. Since General Secretary Xi Jinping inspected Qufu and delivered an important speech, our school has consciously assumed the sacred mission of cultural revitalization, holding the intention of “Establishing school on culture " as an important mission for the construction of a century-old school in Confucius' hometown. We aimed to establish a high-level university with outstanding cultural pursuit, unique cultural label and prominent cultural advantages. He pointed out that our school has obvious advantages in excellent traditional culture and an ever-expanding talent pool. The establishment of excellent traditional culture education base for teachers of Shandong Province is a kind of confidence and encouragement for our school. We would implement the relevant requirements of the Provincial Department of Education, and complete the key teachers’ training course of excellent traditional culture at a high level of quality

Liu Baojun congratulated the opening of the training course and extended hearty greetings to the participants in his remarks. He said that Qufu Normal University was a well-known research base of Confucianism in China and an important academic post of education in Shandong Province, which made remarkable achievements in inheriting and carrying forward the excellent traditional Chinese culture and played  a good exemplary role for colleges and universities in the whole province. The establishment of excellent traditional culture education base for teachers of Shandong Province in Qufu Normal University was an important measure to implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's speech on promoting excellent traditional culture. He pointed out that such courses would be conducive to solving the problem of outstanding traditional culture teaching. He hoped that the trainees would cherish this opportunity by following the training discipline, linking learning with thinking, and combining knowledge with practice. In doing so, the trainees could improve themselves in traditional culture knowledge and teaching ability as soon as possible.

At the ceremony, Professor He Shanmeng, deputy director of the Department of Philosophy of Zhejiang University and a doctoral tutor, delivered a speech as a teacher representative, he hoped that the trainee would gain more knowledge of traditional culture through this training, enhance their awareness of traditional value, and then educate young people with a full energy to allow them to truly benefit from the traditional cultural education. On behalf of the teachers, he promised to everyone that he would do his best to ensure the teaching quality and successfully finished the task.

Yang Yanbo, a teacher of a leading school in Liaocheng Economical and Technological Development Area, gave a speech as a trainee representative and shared his feeling of traditional culture. He noted that he would treasure this opportunity, play a leading role of a backbone teacher and actively promote education of traditional culture on the job.

It is reported that this is the first time that the excellent traditional culture training for teachers in the province has been held in Shandong. The training is organized by the Excellent Traditional Culture Education Center of our school.  According to the training plan, this year there will be 1,000 junior high school teachers in the province who will attend the training in the Shandong Provincial Excellent Traditional Cultural Education Base.

The principals of the relevant departments of the Party Committee Office, the Academic Affairs Office, the College of Liberal Arts, the School of History and Culture, the Confucius Institute of Culture, and the staff of the Excellent Traditional Culture Education Center attended the opening ceremony.
