On October 26th and 27th, the Shandong Provincial Quarter-final of English speech, writing and reading of "The Foreign Research Institute’s National Talent Cup " was successfully held in QFNU. Vice-Chancellor Xia Yunjie attended the opening ceremony. More than 30 deans of the school of foreign languages and well-known experts and scholars of English teaching from shandong province acted as judges. 136 speech elites, 135 writing elites and 133 reading elites selected by each undergraduate institution participated in the quarter-final. The competition attracted thousands of guests from outside the school and our teachers and students. With the strong support of the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Institute, the careful organization of the Public Foreign Language Teaching Department, and the close cooperation of various departments of our shool, the Shandong Provincial quarter-fina was a great success.

At the opening ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Xia Yunjie made a speech on behalf of the organizer. Yun-jie xia expressed the sincere welcome to all leaders teachers, the warm congratulations to the students , and promised, as the competition organiser, Qufu Normal University must live up to the Shandong Province Education Department, Foreign Language Teaching and Research Institute, and to try our best to make the contest successful.

On the stage of the second round of " The Foreign Research Institute's National Talent Cup ", the excellent players gathered together. They are passionate in their speeches, thoughtful in their reading and eloquent in their writing. The title of this year's speech contest is "My Big Story in 2049", which is interesting, helpful and meaningful. It shows the contestants' feelings for the motherland, their vision of the world. The topics of the impromptu speech are diverse, including economy, society, culture and other diverse topics, which test the contestants' language application ability, knowledge field, cultural awareness, critical thinking ability and other comprehensive qualities. The writing competition is not only close to students' life, but also enlightens students' thinking, guides them to differentiate and elaborate from diverse viewpoints, and uses language in real situations, so as to continuously improve their ability of in-depth analysis, clear expression and effective communication. The topic of reading competition is "Read and Know, Read and Reason, Read and Question and Read and Create" , which test students' ability to read and think logically. After two days of intense competition, according to the principle of openness, fairness and justice, the judges evaluated the grand prize, first prize, second prize and third prize respectively, the nine winners will represent in Shandong Province attend the final competition of 2019 " The Foreign Research Institute's National Talent Cup ". The excellent performance of the contestants shows that the new generation of college students are full of national feelings and global vision, and also reflects their comprehensive quality of using English freely to clarify ideas, communicate ideas and solve problems.
