Good news came again in early 2020. The General Office of the Ministry of Education issued a document recently to announce the list of national construction bases for teachers’ morality and style. Our university is the only one selected in Shandong Province, which indicates that our university has vigorously implemented the strategy of school establishment on culture and new breakthroughs has been made in promoting the “No. 1 Project” of the Chinese Teachers Museum.

The Ministry of Education has selected 10 units including Beijing Normal University, Fudan University, and our university to build the base of teachers’ morality and style. According to the construction plan, our university will make full use of the unique advantages of the normal university located in the hometown of Confucius, and use the China Teachers Museum as a featured platform, taking the “five centers”-- the creation of the collection of educational relics, the study of educational heritage, the cultivation of teacher’s ethics, the exchange of teacher culture, and the service of public culture-- as the overall requirements. Our school will devote to continuously launching high-level research results on the theory of teachers’ morality and style, exploring effective experience models, developing effective educational resources, strengthening the monitoring, analysis and evaluation of situation, and contribute to making the construction of teachers’ morality and style more scientific.

Over the past 65 years, our university has rooted in the hometown of Confucius and adhered to its mission of promoting culture, forming a profound advantage in teacher education resources, research and platforms. Our university took the lead in initiating and starting the construction of the first China Teachers Museum featuring teacher culture and moral education in the whole country. It has filled the domestic gap, and has been fully affirmed and highly valued by the Ministry of Education and the Shandong Provincial Government. Liu Jiayi, secretary of the Shandong Provincial Party Committee, praised the museum as a model of “good plan”; Gong Zheng, deputy secretary and governor of the Shandong Provincial Party Committee, Sun Yao, a member of the party group and deputy minister of the Ministry of Education, Guan Zhiou, member of the Standing Committee of the Shandong Provincial Party Committee and director of Publicity Department, and Yu Jie, vice-governor of Shandong Province, made a special trip to the university to guide the museum construction.

It is understood that the China Teachers Museum aims at “ethnic cultural memory, educational historical heritage, and teachers’ spiritual homeland”. It strives to carry forward the tradition of the succession of teachings from masters to disciples, tell the story of teachers, explore a unique model of teacher’s moral education, and create an international teacher communicating window. And it successfully held the first “Chinese and Foreign Teacher Xingtan Lecture” and established the first “Shandong Teacher’s Morality Base”. So far, more than 60,000 people at home and abroad have come to visit. All sectors of society, especially the teachers and students, have given high praise to the construction of China Teachers Museum.
