Chinese and foreign youth exchange base has successfully completed its first activity. On June 16, the first activity of the Chinese foreign youth exchange base was held simultaneously in Beijing, Qufu and Belfast, Northern Ireland through video call. Students from Qufu Normal University and University of Ulster in the UK gather on-line to tell the story of Confucius, share national culture and sing the song of Sino-British friendship together.
Chinese and British teenagers will be divided into three groups: university group, middle school group and primary school group. Before the start of the first exchange activity, the National Friendship Association and the relevant person in charge of the Northern Ireland Affairs Bureau of the British Embassy in China co-chaired the opening ceremony. Jiang Jiang, Vice President of CPAFFC, Zhang Meifang, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Belfast, Li Rong, Deputy Director of the Shandong Provincial Committee of Foreign Affairs, Hu Qingxue, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Qufu Normal University, Andrew McCormick, Director of the International Department of the Northern Ireland Government and other representatives attended the opening ceremony. Students from Qufu Normal University contributed relevant performances to show Confucian culture. Students from British shared their understanding and thinking of learning Confucius thought, and brought the performance of traditional Northern Ireland song and dance.
After the event, officials, teachers and students from the UK all spoke highly of this exchange activity. And this is also a good opportunity to spread Chinese traditional culture.
