On December 8, the National Office of Philosophy and Social Sciences published the list of major projects approved by the National Social Science Foundation in 2022. Qufu Normal University has two topics on the list: Professor Cao Li of the College of Physical Education Science presided over the declared topic "Research on the Construction of the Pedigree of Chinese Sports Spirit", and Professor Sun Xiaoguang of the College of History and Culture presided over the declared topic "Research on the South China Sea Policy of Modern Great Powers and the Protection of China's Marine Rights and Interests (1840-1949)". This also created a historic breakthrough in QFNU's approval of two major projects of the National Social Science Fund in the same year. In this year, 338 major projects of the National Social Science Fund were approved, including 13 projects in Shandong Province. Qufu Normal University ranked 34th in the number of universities in China, the 8th in the number of normal universities all around China, and the first in the number of universities in Shandong Province.

According to the list of "Top 100 Projects of National Social Science Fund of China's Universities in 2022" released by professional institutions for the statistics of major projects, key projects, general projects and youth projects, Qufu Normal University has become one of the top 10 non-"double-top" universities in China with the total number of 2 major projects, 22 general projects and 1 youth project.
